OBAMA'S $84 MILLION FLOP. RECOVERY.GOV Won't Track Every Dime Until October 10th

On April 8th, 2009, I wrote an article entitled, "Obama Wastes $84 million on 'Stimulus' Website," in which I pointed out the irony and hypocrisy of spending $84 million on a government website that's purpose is to track government spending. Here is an excerpt:

This would be laughable if it weren't true. Only the government can blow a cool $84,000,000 on a website (www.recovery.gov) that explains how they're spending $787,000,000,000, the amount of President Obama's Democrat Party "Stimulus" Plan. Ever wonder what a $84 million website looks like?
From the site:
Accountability and Transparency -This is your money. You have a right to know where it's going and how it's being spent. Learn what steps we're taking to conduct oversight of funds distributed under this law in order to prevent fraud, waste and abuse.
Yea right! It's our money. "And we'll charge you another $84 million to tell you how we're going to waste it!"
Guess what? Since then it's gotten even worse! Even though President Obama has promised that citizens will be able to track "every dime" of the so-called "Stimulus" spending (aka: Porkulus), on recovery.gov, the site won't report details on who received grants and contracts until October, and may not be complete until next spring! $84 Million for a site that doesn't even work. Only the federal government could pull this off!
The site presently lists programs being funded by the stimulus cash, but fails to show any details on who received it. According to Earl Devaney, Chairman of the Recovery Accountability and Transparency Board (which manages the website), that information won't be available until October 10th, 2009, but warned that it will be a challenge to have ready to present spending data in five months.
A challenge?
Mr. Devaney said that after October, when the first data becomes available, the board will have to wait six to nine months for the White House Office of Management and Budget to issue new guidance on how far down the spending chain the money must be tracked.
In other words, the government not only spent $84 million on a website to track spending, but it doesn't even work! How can they spend this kind of money on a website that doesn't even do what it's designed to do? What a colossal waste!
