With all the talk about President Obama's "enemies list," including less than flattering comparisons to former President, Richard M. Nixon, I think it's appropriate to add some perspective to the issue. People apply the Nixonian label when searching history for a precedent nearing the level of Obama's attacks against his so-called "enemies list". Just who are the villains on President Obama's enemies list? Known terrorist organizations such as al-Qaeda, Hezbollah or the Taliban? It doesn't seem so. President Obama's Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, in an attempt to not offend terrorists, refers to acts of terrorism, not as "terrorist attacks," but as the more neutered, "Man-caused disasters." Isn't that courteous of her? I'm sure this will cause Osama bin Laden to tone down his rhetoric and jihad against us. I'm sure bin Laden reads "Miss Manners," and will be softened by Ms. Napolitano's attempt at offering political correctness to terrorists.
To the goal of the war in Afghanistan, President Obama, in July, expressed that he was uncomfortable with the term, "victory." The word "victory" connotes "defeating the enemy." Well, that wouldn't be very nice, now would it? One has to wonder how the troops took the news that they're not supposed to achieve "victory." Obviously, the Taliban in Afghanistan didn't make President Obama's "enemies list" either.
How about Venezuelan dictator, Hugo Chavez? Chavez just seized the Hilton hotel on Margarita Island because the hotel had the temerity to impose conditions on its use by his government to host a summit there last month. About the hostile takeover, Chavez said, "To hold the conference, we had to ask for permission... and the owners tried to impose conditions on the revolutionary government. No way. So I said, 'Let's expropriate it.' And now it's been expropriated."
Speaking of Chavez, Mark Lloyd, who President Obama hand-picked to be the newly created Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chief Diversity Officer, a.k.a. "Diversity Czar," praised the totalitarian dictator, saying in a June 2008 speech that Chavez had led "really an incredible revolution - a democratic revolution." Lloyd speaks with glowing admiration of Chavez's brutal takeover of private radio and TV stations that don't support him. I guess free speech is highly overrated. One could easily gather that Hugo Chavez acts as a role model for the administration's handling of the press.
Certainly proving that the Obama Administration doesn't consider the strong-armed dictator an enemy was his cheerful acceptance of Chavez's gift to the president, the America and capitalism hating book, "Open Veins of Latin America." Obama's warm response to Chavez's insulting "gift" was that it "was a nice gesture to give me a book. I'm a reader." How sweet.
Is Communism or are Communists on the president's "enemies list"? Heck no! They're a part of his administration! The uncovering of numerous Communists appointed by the president, usually "czars" with no Senate confirmation, makes my blood run cold. Communism, once considered an enemy to freedom and individual rights, which it is, is now considered as an equal alternative system. Why did we even win the Cold War? Why did we even oppose the Soviet Union?
The FOX News Channel earned the honor of placing near the top of Obama's "enemies list" with it's coverage of all of the President's czars. One thing I notice about the Obama administration's attack against FOX, is that they never specifically challenge or address anything FOX has reported as being inaccurate. They can't. Instead, they attempt to marginalize and de-legitimize their entire organization as "not being real news," a label repeated ad nauseam by the president's staff like Rahm Emanuel, David Axelrod, and Anita Dunn. In typical Chicago-style thuggery, they warned the rest of the media not to repeat FOX's reports.
FOX News, which may currently be perched at the top of Obama's "enemies list", is the only news network that doesn't worship and wait at the presidents every whim.
It's safe to say that without FOX News, and in particular, Glenn Beck, none of the facts regarding these radicals would have seen the light of day. In fact, even after Van Jones resigned in the dark of the night, the majority of the mainstream media was largely silent, but I digress. President Obama said to "judge him by whom he surrounds himself." Figure it out for yourself, but clearly, the president's enemies list is quite obviously misguided and misdirected. How about Iranian madman, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad? No evidence of him being on Obama's "enemies list" either. In fact, as a CNN panelist recently pointed out, the president is happy to unconditionally sit down with him and other thugs, but won't talk to FOX News' Chris Wallace. Apparently, Ahmadinejad is not even in Wallace's league, according to the President. Real enemies, both foreign and domestic, aren't on President Obama's "enemies list". Who is on the President's "enemies list"? All are law-abiding, taxpaying, American citizens whose only possible crime is having the "audacity" to oppose or question the president's radical, far-left agenda. Most are even patriotic, love America, love freedom, believe in free markets, and are dedicated to constitutional, limited government as intended by our Founding Fathers.
Those individuals and groups on Obama's "enemies list" have one thing in common, ironically, and that is that they are all Americans, and they are subject to the full force of the federal government's vast resources, power, and tactics designed to squelch criticism, silence critics and smash dissent. Dissent, formerly classified as a bastion of patriotism and freedom when performed by protesters on the left, is now portrayed by the Left as racism and terrorism. While an all-encompassing list this is not, below are some of the targets of the president's ire, in no particular order:
- Fox News
- Jon Voight
- U. S. Chamber of Commerce
- Doctors
- Grandmothers
- Health Insurers
- Matt Drudge
- Rush Limbaugh
- Glenn Beck
- Sean Hannity
- Wall Street
- Drug Companies
- Bankers
- Oil Industry
- Obamacare dissenters
- Tea Party participants
- Lamar Alexander
- Sarah Palin
- Michele Bachmann
- The "Rich"
- Capitalism
- Free Markets
- Conservatives
- Blue Dog Democrats
The only thing growing faster than Obama's "enemies list" is the incomprensible national debt, and the number of government employees. Obama's "enemies list" is growing at such an exponential rate that, in time, not only will the list have the commonality of being all Americans, but it will literally include "all Americans." By the time he's up for re-election in 2012, there won't be anyone left in the country who's not on President Obama's "enemies list". He will have turned the entire nation against him, that is, if there is a nation left.
During his inauguration speech, President Obama's teleprompter said:
“On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord.”
“On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics.”
This president, who promised the most transparent administration ever, continues to hold secret meetings behind closed doors. This president, who claimed a desire to do away with partisan politics, continues to not only keep the Republican party out of any major discussions, but also attack any person or group who does not agree with his agenda. This president, who was crammed down the throat of America as a "centrist", continues to push a far-left agenda in the name of "social and economic justice". This president, who theatrically put his hand on the bible once owned by Abraham Lincoln and swore to uphold the Constitution, continues each day to find ways to get around it. (After all, according to his own words, the Constitution is a flawed document.)
Yes, the president's "enemies list" continues to grow more and more each day to include any American or American organization/corporation that does not agree with his far left, fascist agenda. He is fulfilling his promise to "fundamentally transform our nation" and he'll stop at nothing and will attempt to destroy anyone who dares to question his agenda or get in his way.
