When Barack Obama became president on Jan 20, the nation's unemployment rate was 7.2%. Using "crisis" and fear to pass their ridiculous "stimulus" plan (which was designed to stimulate Obama's parties' favorite constituents) the Obama administration promised that if the stimulus bill was passed, then unemployment rate would not go above 8%. By February, the unemployment rate had exceeded the Obama administration's unemployment projection for the entire year.
The stimulus plan, full of "hope and change," but zero measurable positive results, has helped so much that the nation's unemployment rate is now at 10.2%, a rate the nation hasn't seen in over a quarter of a century. This is an increase of 41%!
Keep in mind that the administration has clearly communicated that the benchmark to judge the success of the "stimulus" boondoggle was job creation. Despite the terrible results, the Obama propagandists continue to repeat the mantra that the Obama stimulus plan has been a phenomenal success.
Unemployment is the ultimate gauge of confidence in the future health of the economy, not the current or past condition. A business, looking at future growth in their business is more likely to add workers than one pessimistic about their business's future outlook. Obviously, at the rate workers are losing jobs, businesses are not positive about the business climate going forward.
This increase in unemployment is a result of a lack of confidence in the Obama administration's handling of the economy, the crown jewel being his stimulus plan. In this "New Era of Responsibility," the president and his "ministers of truth," can childishly continue to blame their poor decisions on their predecessor, George W. Bush, and they probably will. The American people are getting very tired of that message. It's getting old.
