FEDERAL GOVERNMENT PAY SKYROCKETS WHILE PRIVATE SECTOR SUFFERS

Number of Government Workers Paid over $150,000 up 119% Since Beginning of Recession (Dec. 2007)!
On October 29, I wrote an article entitled, Taxpayers vs. Taxtakers, a Visual, using numbers obtained from the CATO Institute, that showed the huge discrepancy between what federal government workers (paid by tax dollars) are paid over what the private sector (you know, that group that President Obama continuously demonizes as greedy), the non-government workers earn. This latter group could also be known as the taxpayers who pay the taxtakers salaries.
What the Cato study found was that as of last year, 2008, the average wage for 1.9 million federal civilian workers was $79,197, which compared to an average $50,028 for the nation’s 108 million private sector workers (measured in full-time equivalents). The figure shows that the federal pay advantage (the gap between the lines) is steadily increasing.
If those figures aren't troubling enough, including the fact that there are 1.9 million federal workers, the size of a major city, USA Today, reported that the the number of federal workers earning six-figure salaries ($100,000 or more) has exploded during the nation's (from Dec. 2007 through June 2009) current deep recession.
Remember, It's You, The Taxpayer That is Greedy!
As individuals and businesses are tightening their collective belts, the government is growing like there is no tomorrow, enjoying the fruits of the taxpayer's labor. Almost one out of five federal employees are paid salaries of $100,000 or more (19%, up from 14%), an increase of 46%, and that’s before including any overtime pay and/or bonuses. There are now over 382,000 government employees that are paid $100,000 or more by you, the taxpayer!

I think we have more machinery of government than is necessary, too many parasites living on the labor of the industrious.

-- Thomas Jefferson

And You Thought Your Taxes Were a Form of Charity?
But that's not all. The number of government employees you're paying over $150,000 has increased 119%, to more than 66,500, and those paid over $170,000 has almost doubled to over 22,000. Again, this is just since the recession started, in December 2007, in only eighteen month's time.
If that's not enough to get you to grab your pitchfork, listen to this:
In December of 2007, when the recession started, the Transportation Department had only one person in the entire department that was paid more than $170,000 per year. In just eighteen short months, that number had exponentially ballooned to....drum roll please....1,690!
YOU PAY, THEY PLAY
How is this possible? In the face of a severe recession in which the private sector has lost over seven million jobs, federal workers, both new and existing are enjoying unprecedented times of prosperity. At the same time, we have Obama's "pay czar" unconstitutionally going around to private companies, having the outright gall to dictate private pay, while the government is sucking the private sector dry! The feigned outrage by politicians and bureaucrats over what the private sector earns, who actually producing something of value, when the real outrage should be over what government workers are paid, funded 100% from you, the U. S. taxpayer.
When Obama talks about "shared" sacrifice, he's not talking about everybody. Those in his government are getting rich on the backs of the taxpayers.

  2. I have worked for the Federal Government for 30 years. What I have witness is the steady decline in accountabily. The increase in salary you are seeing is due to government jobs being cut at the lower pay salary and leaving overhead position alone. Leadership never eats their own. When I first started working for the government the supervisor to employee ratio was 1-15 (depending on skills type (1-15 staff job for example)...today the span of control has decreased to 1-4-5 people. There is no accountablity or oversight on ensuring that organization don't become top heavy. Government has the reverse model of priviate industry...private industry cut cost in overhead to save money. Government has to retain the overhead to preserve the structure of the organization and the leaders grade scale.

  3. This is the stuff that revolutions are made of. Private sector has eliminated pensions, cut out 401K matches, social security I'm sure will be a welfare system in a few years - since I'm supposed to provide totally for my own future, how much could my taxes be reduced if I didn't have to provide for these government parasites too? Keep this information coming and hopefully it catches on and something is done. It's sickening.
