The national debt has gotten to be so gargantuan that it's hard to wrap your head around it. Once you get up in the hundreds of billions and trillions, it becomes so unfathomable that it's easier to avoid the topic than it is to deal with the anxiety, fear, and uncertainty that the numbers bring. This very brief video (see below) makes understanding the national debt much easier to grasp.
To make the numbers much more understandable, Political Math (great site by the way) converted the numbers, adjusted for inflation and using President Obama's own budget projections through 2016 along with all other prior presidents since 1900, to create The Great Debt Road Trip 1900-2016. As you can see from this simple, short and powerful video (runs only 2 min. 47 secs.), Political Math, converts the national debt into a much more understandable format, miles-per-hour. It uses a road map to show how far each president would have driven the national debt, as in miles driven, then calculates the speed in which each president was driving.
Saying anymore would give it away, so rather than go on, please watch, "The National Debt Road Trip":
What did you think? Pretty scary stuff, huh?
