OBAMA OUTPOLLS BUSH BY ONLY 6%

This has got to be embarrassing for President Obama, his administration, and the Democrat Party. Obama is outpolling former President George W. Bush by only six percentage points according to Public Policy Polling. The meaning of this close gap is significant since George W. Bush left office with the lowest approval rating of any prior president, 22%. The Left hates GWB more than any other president in memory, so for Obama to drop to his level has to be very frustrating for them. Barack Obama, as well as most other Democrats, campaigned in last year's election as the "anti-Bush." Obama continues speaking in campaign mode, running against Bush who is, ironically, catching him in the polls! From Public Policy Polling:
Perhaps the greatest measure of Obama's declining support is that just 50% of voters now say they prefer having him as President to George W. Bush, with 44% saying they'd rather have his predecessor. Given the horrendous approval ratings Bush showed during his final term that's somewhat of a surprise and an indication that voters are increasingly placing the blame on Obama for the country's difficulties instead of giving him space because of the tough situation he inherited. The closeness in the Obama/Bush numbers also has implications for the 2010 elections. Using the Bush card may not be particularly effective for Democrats anymore, which is good news generally for Republicans and especially ones like Rob Portman who are running for office and have close ties to the former President.
If this means that the "Blame Bush Game" is losing it's effectiveness, as much as the poll seems to indicate, then Obama will have no TARP to hide underneath.
