FROM RUSSIAN PAPER PRAVDA: AMERICAN CAPITALISM GONE WITH A WHIMPER

It's a sad day in America when we have to get our warning about Marxist leanings from the Russians! Here is an article from Pravda:

It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American descent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people.

True, the situation has been well prepared on and off for the past century, especially the past twenty years. The initial testing grounds was conducted upon our Holy Russia and a bloody test it was. But we Russians would not just roll over and give up our freedoms and our souls, no matter how much money Wall Street poured into the fists of the Marxists.

Those lessons were taken and used to properly prepare the American populace for the surrender of their freedoms and souls, to the whims of their elites and betters.

First, the population was dumbed down through a politicized and substandard education system based on pop culture, rather then the classics. Americans know more about their favorite TV dramas then the drama in DC that directly affects their lives. They care more for their "right" to choke down a McDonald's burger or a Burger King burger than for their constitutional rights. Then they turn around and lecture us about our rights and about our "democracy". Pride blind the foolish.

Then their faith in God was destroyed, until their churches, all tens of thousands of different "branches and denominations" were for the most part little more than Sunday circuses and their televangelists and top protestant mega preachers were more than happy to sell out their souls and flocks to be on the "winning" side of one pseudo Marxist politician or another. Their flocks may complain, but when explained that they would be on the "winning" side, their flocks were ever so quick to reject Christ in hopes for earthly power. Even our Holy Orthodox churches are scandalously liberalized in America.

The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive. His spending and money printing has been a record setting, not just in America's short history but in the world. If this keeps up for more than another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Wiemar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe.

These past two weeks have been the most breath taking of all. First came the announcement of a planned redesign of the American Byzantine tax system, by the very thieves who used it to bankroll their thefts, loses and swindles of hundreds of billions of dollars. These make our Russian oligarchs look little more then ordinary street thugs, in comparison. Yes, the Americans have beat our own thieves in the shear volumes. Should we congratulate them?

These men, of course, are not an elected panel but made up of appointees picked from the very financial oligarchs and their henchmen who are now gorging themselves on trillions of American dollars, in one bailout after another. They are also usurping the rights, duties and powers of the American congress (parliament). Again, congress has put up little more then a whimper to their masters.

Then came Barack Obama's command that GM's (General Motor) president step down from leadership of his company. That is correct, dear reader, in the land of "pure" free markets, the American president now has the power, the self given power, to fire CEOs and we can assume other employees of private companies, at will. Come hither, go dither, the centurion commands his minions.

So it should be no surprise, that the American president has followed this up with a "bold" move of declaring that he and another group of unelected, chosen stooges will now redesign the entire automotive industry and will even be the guarantee of automobile policies. I am sure that if given the chance, they would happily try and redesign it for the whole of the world, too. Prime Minister Putin, less then two months ago, warned Obama and UK's Blair, not to follow the path to Marxism, it only leads to disaster. Apparently, even though we suffered 70 years of this Western sponsored horror show, we know nothing, as foolish, drunken Russians, so let our "wise" Anglo-Saxon fools find out the folly of their own pride.

Again, the American public has taken this with barely a whimper...but a "freeman" whimper.

So, should it be any surprise to discover that the Democratically controlled Congress of America is working on passing a new regulation that would give the American Treasury department the power to set "fair" maximum salaries, evaluate performance and control how private companies give out pay raises and bonuses? Senator Barney Franks, a social pervert basking in his homosexuality (of course, amongst the modern, enlightened American societal norm, as well as that of the general West, homosexuality is not only not a looked down upon life choice, but is often praised as a virtue) and his Marxist enlightenment, has led this effort. He stresses that this only affects companies that receive government monies, but it is retroactive and taken to a logical extreme, this would include any company or industry that has ever received a tax break or incentive.

The Russian owners of American companies and industries should look thoughtfully at this and the option of closing their facilities down and fleeing the land of the Red as fast as possible. In other words, divest while there is still value left.

The proud American will go down into his slavery without a fight, beating his chest and proclaiming to the world, how free he really is. The world will only snicker.

LITTLE GREEN CARS

REAL CLEAR POLITICS, By Lawrence Kudlow:

Get ready, folks: America is about to buy a car company. As of Monday, we the taxpayers will own more than 70 percent of GM. Whether the company will be formally renamed Government Motors remains to be seen. But that's what it will be.

Instead of putting the failed car enterprise into bankruptcy six months ago -- where Carl Icahn or Wilbur Ross could have bought it -- the Bush administration chose Bailout Nation. Under Team Obama, that bailout has morphed into full-scale government ownership. Twenty billion dollars of TARP money is already invested in GM, with another $50 billion on the way. And that number could easily double unless GM car sales miraculously climb back to 14 million this year. That's highly unlikely, with sales presently hovering around 9 million a year.

In other words, taxpayers are not going to get their money back.
Yes, we the people will be left holding the bag for the mistakes of GM's management and labor leaders over the last four decades.

And with CAFE mileage standards ratcheting up -- all while GM is going down -- Team Obama's green vision for the economy will soon be crystal clear. With President Obama in the driver's seat, we're going to get little green two-door cars that most folks won't want to buy.

Even worse, UAW chief Ron Gettelfinger has made it plain that his powerful union won't let these cars be manufactured in low-cost non-union plants overseas. The result? Obama's little green cars are going to be unprofitable, as well.

But it's the bigger picture that has me most concerned. What does Government Motors say about the direction of the United States?

IS SUPREME COURT JUSTICE NOMINEE SONIA SOTOMAYOR A RACIST?

Is Supreme Court Justice nominee Sonia Sotomayor a racist?

The accusation comes primarily from racially insensitive comments she made during a 2001 lecture at the University of California-Berkeley. Referring to comments made by former Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, in which she said that, "a wise old man and a wise old woman will reach the same conclusion in deciding cases," Sotomayor said,
"I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life."
Ms. Sotomayor should be asked what about her background makes her decision making ability, when it comes to interpreting law, superior to that of a white male.  She should be asked what makes her experiences richer than anyone else of any other racial background.  She should be asked if white males should not be considered for her potential post because their experience isn't as rich as hers apparently is.

This racist statement by Sotomayor disqualifies her from appointment to the Supreme Court. Supreme Court Justices, as with the whole judicial branch of government, exist to interpret law without bias.  Ms. Sotomayor, in her statement, admits that she lacks this ability.  If she's willing to make such racist statements in public, then I can only imagine what she's comfortable saying privately, not to mention her private thoughts on the matter.  Sotomayor is incapable of being "color-blind" in her interpretation of the law, in her own words, which invalidates her from consideration to the highest court in the land.

On Wednesday, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich wrote on Twitter:

"Imagine a judicial nominee said 'my experience as a white man makes me better than a Latina woman'. New racism is no better than old racism.  White man racist nominee would be forced to withdraw. Latina woman racist should also withdraw."

Racist remarks are not the only problem with Sotomayor.  Other controversial comments have been made including comments made at a Duke University School of Law panel four years ago, which show her as being a liberal activist:

"All of the legal defense funds out there, they're looking for people with court of appeals experience, because it is, court of appeals is where policy is made.  And...I know this is on tape, and I should never say that, because we don't make law, I know...I'm not promoting it, and I'm not advocating it," Sotomayor said then.

This goes against the very nature of a judges duty to interpret the law (policy), not write it.  Not only is Sonia Sotomayor a racist, but she is someone who, like Vice President Joe Biden, blurts out revealing, yet inappropriately embarrassing content that later comes back to bite her.

THOMAS SOWELL: BURKE AND OBAMA

The other day I sought a respite from current events by re-reading some of the writings of 18th century British statesman Edmund Burke. But it was not nearly as big an escape as I had thought it would be.

When Burke wrote of his apprehension about "new power in new persons," I could not help think of the new powers that have been created by which a new President of the United States -- a man with zero experience in business -- can fire the head of General Motors and tell banks how to run their businesses.

Not only is Barack Obama new to the presidency, he is new to running any organization. One of Burke's fears was that "we may place our confidence in the virtue of those who have never been tried."

Neither eloquence nor zeal was a substitute for experience, according to Burke. He said, "eloquence may exist without a proportionate degree of wisdom." As for zeal, Burke said: "It is no excuse for presumptuous ignorance that it is directed by insolent passion."

The Obama administration's going back and forth on the question whether American intelligence agents who forced information out of captured terrorist leaders will be subjected to legal jeopardy, even though they were told at the time that what they were doing was not only legal but a service to the nation, came to mind when reading Burke's warning about the dangers of continuing to change the rules and values by which people lived.

Burke asked how we could expect a sense of honor to exist when "no man could know what would be the test of honour in a nation, continually varying the standard of its coin?"

The current drive to take from "the rich" for the benefit of others came to mind when reading Burke's warning against creating a situation where "any one description of citizens should be brought to regard any of the others as their proper prey."

THE SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE MESS. AMERICA'S FAILED EXPERIMENT WITH SOCIALISM CONTINUES

When one thinks of turning over the nations health care, currently 13% of the United States economy, to the Feds, one must examine the track record of the other failed socialist programs that this country has experimented with. Take the failing ponzi scheme of Social Security for example.

Social Security Trustees announced in 2007 that the trust fund backing the payment of Social Security benefits would be zero in 2041. In March 2008, the annual report again calculated that the trust fund would be gone in 2041. On May 12, 2009, the 2009 report stated that the trust fund, worth $2.2 trillion on 12/31/08, will be gone in 2037. That's only 28 years from now!

By dollars paid, the U.S. Social Security program is the largest government program in the world and the single greatest expenditure in the federal budget, with 20.9% for social security and 20.4% for Medicare/Medicaid, compared to 20.1% for military expenditure.

When FDR signed the Social Security legislation in 1935, the life expectancy of a 65-year old American was 12.5 years. Today, according to the Social Security Administration, the life expectancy of a 65-year old American is 18 years, an increase of 44%. In fact, the cradle to grave life expectancy when Social Security was instituted was 62, yet you had to be 65 to get benefits! Pretty good system since most people died before they were eligible for benefits.

At its genesis, there were 33 workers paying into the system for every one recipient of benefits. Now that ratio is only 4-1 and it's shrinking with velocity. It is no small wonder that among the 78 million baby boomers born between the years of 1946-64, 25% expect to work until they die, up from just 15% as recently as December 2007 (source: Financial Times).

The problems facing another legalized ponzi scheme, Medicare, are even worse than those of Social Security as benefits being paid out of Medicare are expected to exceed tax revenues in all years going forward. The Medicare trust fund is projected to be depleted by 2017 or just 8 years from now! The long-term (75-year) present value shortfall in the trust fund could be corrected by an immediate 53% reduction in program benefits, according to the Social Security Administration.

America's failed experiment with socialism continues. Margaret Thatcher may have said it best when she said that the problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money. We should consider this when faced with the decision to accept President Obama's National Health Care scheme.

THE NEW GM...GOVERNMENT MOTORS

General Motors is now Government Motors. With the unconstitutional power grab by Obama, the last remnants of American free enterprise has experienced a sudden death.

Not satisfied with the attempt to take over the health care and banking industries, Obama's insatiable power gluttony advances with the takeover of two-thirds of the American automobile industry.

"Wait, a minute," you're saying. "Shouldn't Obama be given a chance to run the car companies? After all, they haven't done too good of a job themselves." Bringing in the government to run the car companies is like saying, "Dad crashed the car so lets let the dog drive."

As poorly as the car companies have been managed, can you imagine how bad it will be with the exact same people running the show as the ones running such outstanding institutions as the IRS, Postal Service, HUD, Fannie & Freddie, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and the list goes on. In fact, the government has yet to run a successful enterprise, and they never will. Why is that?

For one thing, governments seek monopolies. They don't like competition. It fact, they don't tolerate it. Now, they can't profit, even when given a monopoly, but they still prefer them to the competitive world. Another is that middle managers in government are compensated based on the number of employees that report to them and their pay grades. These managers, personally, have absolutely no incentive whatsoever to reduce costs by using their staffs more efficiently. There are many more reasons why government doesn't work, but I'd have to write a book, and this is only an article. The government is going to tell a private business how to stream-line business? Puleaze!

Not only is the hostile takeover of American car companies an unconstitutional abuse of government power, but it's an unwise usage of taxpayer funds. Why did the government give them billions of dollars? To rescue them? They're filing for bankruptcy anyway! Couldn't they have filed for bankruptcy without receiving the $19 or so billion that they've flushed? Who are we bailing out if they're failing in spite of the bailouts?

On March 30th, the President said, "Let me be clear. The United States Government has no interest in running GM. We have no intention of running GM." If that's the case, and it's obviously, definitely not, then why take majority ownership? Why not do, what they should have done in the first place, let bankruptcy run its course? Why insist on being able to appoint government christened directors to the car companies' respective board of directors?

Another significant detestation is the use of taxpayers funds to overweight ownership to the auto unions, at the expense of the legal rights of bondholders, stockholders, and creditors. What a nice payoff to the loyal Democrat Party controlled labor unions that is.

The apparatchiks and schemers have pulled off a coup that paves the way for massive big government to get its tentacles into an industry that will allow the feds to ram their agenda down all of our throats.

CRAIG T. NELSON GOES 'JOHN GALT' ON GLENN BECK: Will not pay more taxes and willing to go to jail.

Craig T. Nelson said on the popular Fox News Glenn Beck show today that he was going to stop paying taxes and was willing to go to jail for it. The conversation sounded like John Galt's famous speech in the classic 1957 novel, Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand.

In reference to Nelson's home state of California (which is asking the federal government to guarantee its debt), Nelson said:  "It's no longer a state.  It's a hedge fund.  I have a solution. There's only one way.  We've gotta make them...we've got to make people stand up for their responsibilities.  They were accountable, and they haven't been.  No one is accountable anymore for anything.  No one did anything wrong. You're to blame, that's to blame. As an investor, as someone who gets taxed an awful lot, I just say, I'm not going to pay 'till you guys can show me that you're fiscally responsible."

Next, Nelson complained about the government's threat to always cut essential services first instead of some of the more unnecessary or wasteful programs that we all know about:  "Listen, the first thing they went after -- education.  We're going to cut education.  Why?  That's the most important thing in the world." Beck then chimed in, "Then cops and prisons."  "Then firefighters," Nelson said finishing Beck's sentence for him, "We don't have any fires in California," he said tongue-in-cheek.

"We are no longer represented," Nelson continued.  "Okay, we just aren't.  And there's been a political fight. There's been a pluralism in our California government and you certainly see it reflected in our national government, don't you?  I mean, people are blaming each other.  No one is taking personal responsibility for what they said or what they did.  And those people are responsible to us.  They were elected.  This is a democracy.  It's a republic.  My God?!"

"We are a republic and that means that we need to be represented, and we're not being.  I'm not going to pay.  I'm not going to pay any more money...what these people are asking me to do..."

"Are you saying that you personally aren't going to pay income taxes anymore?" Beck inquired. With no hesitation, Nelson responded, "I'm really thinking about it, Glenn.  Because as a fiscally responsible grandfather, there are programs that they're asking me to fund that I refuse to fund.  I'm through with it.  I'm just sick and tired of it."

"Are you willing to go to jail?" Beck asked in response.  "I will go to jail," Nelson  answered.

What a stand based upon principles!  John Galt would be proud of Craig T. Nelson.

WALL STREET JOURNAL: THE 'EMPATHY' NOMINEE... Is Sonia Sotomayor judically superior to 'a white male'?

In making Sonia Sotomayor his first nominee for the Supreme Court yesterday, President Obama appears to have found the ideal match for his view that personal experience and cultural identity are the better part of judicial wisdom.

This isn't a jurisprudence that the Founders would recognize, but it is the creative view that has dominated the law schools since the 1970s and from which both the President and Judge Sotomayor emerged. In the President's now-famous word, judging should be shaped by "empathy" as much or more than by reason. In this sense, Judge Sotomayor would be a thoroughly modern Justice, one for whom the law is a voyage of personal identity.

FINANCIAL TIMES: Exploding debt threatens America

Standard and Poor’s decision to downgrade its outlook for British sovereign debt from “stable” to “negative” should be a wake-up call for the US Congress and administration. Let us hope they wake up.

Under President Barack Obama’s budget plan, the federal debt is exploding. To be precise, it is rising – and will continue to rise – much faster than gross domestic product, a measure of America’s ability to service it. The federal debt was equivalent to 41 per cent of GDP at the end of 2008; the Congressional Budget Office projects it will increase to 82 per cent of GDP in 10 years. With no change in policy, it could hit 100 per cent of GDP in just another five years.

ANOTHER DEMOCRAT SCANDAL: BURRIS OFFERED TO PAY BLAGO PRIOR TO APPOINTMENT

Illinois Senator Roland Burris, a democrat,  was recorded on an FBI wiretap suggesting that he could write a check to disgraced former Gov. Rod Blagojevich's political campaign before the ousted governor appointed Burris to the Senate.

The wiretapped phone conversation occurred on Nov. 18 while Blagojevich was still governor and before he named Burris to President Barack Obama's former U.S. Senate seat.

Details of the conversation emerged after a federal judge said today that he would allow the U.S. Senate Ethics Committee to hear a federal wiretap of the former governor's brother, Rob, having a fund-raising conversation with  Burris. Rob Blagojevich was running the campaign fund at the time. On the tape, Burris suggests that he could contribute, or have associates contribute, money to the Blagojevich campaign. Burris also expresses desire to be appointed to the U.S. Senate.

Rod Blagojevich is charged with scheming to trade or sell the seat and using the political muscle of his office to squeeze people for campaign money. Robert Blagojevich, his brother,  is under indictment along with a number of other members of the ousted governor's inner circle.

Burris has been under intense scrutiny because of the questionable circumstances of his Senate appointment and for changing his story numerous times about whether he offered anything in exchange for the Senate seat.

Burris testified before a House Committee that impeached Illinois Governor Blagojevich, in January, that he didn't promise anything in exchange for the Senate seat.

The Senate Ethics Committee has begun a preliminary investigation into the matter.

RADICAL JUDGE SONIA SOTOMAYOR VIDEO: COURT IS WHERE POLICY IS MADE

Video where Judge Sonia Sotomayor admits that court sets policy, and not just the constitutional duty of interpreting law. This slip-of-the-tongue is telling of this Supreme Court nominee.

As you know, the judicial branch of the government that interprets laws (policy), but is not empowered to establish laws, as the Judge seems to indicate. She attempts to back-pedal, but embarrassingly realizes that the cat is already out of the bag as to her radical view of judicial power and philosophy

STATEMENT BY THE PRESIDENT ON NORTH KOREA'S NUCLEAR TESTS

THE WHITE HOUSE

Office of the Press Secretary
________________________________________________________________
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 25, 2009

STATEMENT BY THE PRESIDENT

Today, North Korea said that it has conducted a nuclear test in violation of international law. It appears to also have attempted a short range missile launch. These actions, while not a surprise given its statements and actions to date, are a matter of grave concern to all nations. North Korea's attempts to develop nuclear weapons, as well as its ballistic missile program, constitute a threat to international peace and security.

By acting in blatant defiance of the United Nations Security Council, North Korea is directly and recklessly challenging the international community. North Korea's behavior increases tensions and undermines stability in Northeast Asia. Such provocations will only serve to deepen North Korea's isolation. It will not find international acceptance unless it abandons its pursuit of weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery.

The danger posed by North Korea's threatening activities warrants action by the international community. We have been and will continue working with our allies and partners in the Six-Party Talks as well as other members of the U.N. Security Council in the days ahead.

SARAH PALIN HONORS VETERANS ON MEMORIAL DAY

Governor Sarah Palin today read a Memorial Day proclamation to honor military members at Veterans Memorial Park in Fairbanks. The governor also signed Senate Bill 45, which establishes an Alaska veterans’ cemetery near Fairbanks. SB 45, sponsored by Senators Gene Therriault and Charlie Huggins, directs the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs to pursue the creation of a U.S. Department of Military and Veterans Affairs-approved cemetery where veterans can receive their full burial rights.

“On this Memorial Day, we remember, honor, and give thanks to those who died in service to this nation,” Governor Palin said. “Today, we honor all of the brave men and women of our armed forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the freedoms we hold so dear.”

Governor Palin also signed several other pieces of legislation while in Fairbanks and North Pole.

Senate Bill 142, sponsored by Senator Joe Paskvan, transfers five acres of land from the Alaska Railroad to the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities. This will allow the state to reconstruct Illinois Street, which provides primary access to downtown Fairbanks.

Senate Bill 114, sponsored by Senator Paskvan, extends the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers, and Land Surveyors until June 30, 2017.

Senate Bill 133, sponsored by Senator Paskvan, modernizes Alaska’s health care IT infrastructure by developing a secure electronic Health Information Exchange system to improve the safety, cost-effectiveness, and quality of health care in Alaska.

Senate Bill 48, sponsored by Senator Therriault, exempts municipal service area boards from the requirements of conducting meetings open to the public when a meeting is administrative or managerial in nature.

House Bill 121, sponsored by Representative John Coghill, requires the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities to retrofit, where cost-effective, all public facilities within 15 years of the completion of an energy use index database.

Senate Bill 170, sponsored by Senator Johnny Ellis, modifies the Alaska unemployment insurance statutes by redefining the base period for determining eligibility for unemployment benefits, relating to contributions, interest, penalties, and payments under the Alaska Employment Security Act.

House Bill 177, sponsored by Representative Coghill, implements consumer protection for ATVs, snowmobiles, boat motors, and other recreational vehicles. HB 177 requires a manufacturer to replace a defective product or refund the price of the product if the product is unusable by the purchaser for more than 30 days in the first year of the purchase.

HOLD YOUR BREATH! OBAMA'S CAP AND TRADE (NATIONAL ENERGY TAX) PROPOSAL IS NOT A PIPE DREAM

"We can’t drive our SUVs, and eat whatever we want, and keep our homes at 72 [degrees] all the time, whether we live in the desert or the tundra, and keep consuming 25% of the world’s resources with just 4% of the world’s population... That’s not going to happen."

HOLD YOUR BREATH! I realize that these words fell on deaf ears, because they were spoken with such confidence, eloquence, and grace, when President Obama said them on the campaign trail last year. Little did we know that President Barack Obama WAS DEADLY SERIOUS when he made that radical statement.

He's actually trying to do it...by force!

And the slick method being used to bring about this extreme and regressive change in your standard of living is the so-called, obscure, "cap and trade" legislation which is rapidly making its way through Congress.

The far left fired the opening salvo in their quest to institute cap-and-trade legislation when Congressman Henry Waxman's Energy and Commerce Committee initiated hearings on HR 2454, the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009

Cap and trade is being sold as sound, environmentally friendly energy policy. In actuality, it has little to do with the environment and instead is a means to confiscate your income, control your behavior and repress your freedoms and liberties.

There are currently just enough extreme liberals in Congress to put the legislative wheels into motion and actually make cap and trade a reality.

That’s right - liberal cap and trade prevarications are no longer just liberal pipe-dreams... cap and trade is now a horrifying probability. And it is now on the fast-track for passage by the far-left Pelosi-Reid Congress

If fact, according to an MIT study, between 2015 and 2050, cap and trade would pull in $366 billion from citizens.  Do the math:  (divided by 117 million households equals $3,128 per household).  That's over $250 per month in extra energy costs.  Suckers!  Do you honestly believe you'll see that money again after they get their hands on it?

This number is not in dispute, however.  Some would argue, including the author of the study, that people will actually get some of that money rebated back to them somehow.  Okay, can you spell, N-A-I-V-E?  Do you really trust the government to make that happen?  Don't you just have a little suspicion that these billions in new taxes are going to go into the general goodie-bag of the government?  Maybe Al Gore is going to design on LOCKBOX (say very slowly). Kind of like how social security taxes money had to go to social security recipients, only.  Yeah, Right!

The MIT professor, John Reilly, wrote about the $3,128/household cost:
"It is not really a matter of returning it or not, no matter what happens this revenue gets recycled into the economy some way."
Sure, I get it.  Sounds good, right?  Some way?  What way?  How exactly and specifically?

When will we tire of these legal government laundering schemes in which they take your money, without your approval, then promise that you'll get it back in some undetermined government approved way. No thank you. No more. This has to stop, here and now.
This also breaks an Obama campaign promise that said that no one who makes less than $250,000 would pay a dime in extra taxes under an Obama-Biden administration.

If we are going to beat this outrageous scheme… if we are going to defeat cap-and-trade, the time to act is now!

Obama's "Cap and Trade" system will tax carbon producing companies, adding oodles to the cost of almost every product you can think of. He's actually going to tax carbon dioxide. Not toxic carbon "monoxide," but the same substance we exhale! The same earthly substance the plants consume! This big government, Orwellian money grab, is almost like pulling money out of thin air, literally. If he could hook up a carbon measuring device to your pie hole to monitor your blow factor, he'd tax that too. Barney Frank would be tax poor!

Can you imagine the size, scope, and intrusiveness of the bureaucracy that visits the businesses to audit the carbon emitted from these businesses? The cost to American businesses to comply with these new regulations will be astronomical. Of course companies will have to pass on this added cost to consumers, their customers, so companies won't be the ones ultimately paying the tax.

Average, everyday Americans on fixed incomes, especially retirees and low-income people, will feel this the most because they don't have a lot of wiggle room to start with in their personal budgets. It's regressive, exactly the type of tax that liberals abhor. What a cruel tax to lay upon the poor.

Could the President's poverty pimping days be over?

A quick refresher course on federal taxes reveals a few of the other taxes, in addition to the air we breath, that Uncle Obama gets a piece of:

Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT): If you play by the rules, this makes sure you pay a certain amount, regardless of the validity of your deductions.
Capital Gains Tax: When you sell something, like a stock, bond, mutual fund, business, real estate, etc.
Corporate Income Tax: A hidden tax on individuals charged to a piece of paper. Only humans pay taxes. And we all pay these taxes in the form of higher prices charged by businesses to pay these taxes.
U.S. Estate Tax: Here, after taxing you your entire life, they hit you before you hit the grave. Also known as "Death Tax."
U.S. Excise Tax (includes taxes on cigarettes and alcoholic beverages): Taxing you when you "sin."
U.S. Federal Income Tax: aka: Slavery.
Federal Unemployment Tax (FUTA): To prepay your eventual layoff.
FICA Tax (includes Social Security tax and related programs): Supposed to go into a separate pool for your retirement. Yeah, right.
Gasoline Tax: Sucks you dry.
Generation Skipping Tax: Keeps you from laundering money to your grand kids to avoid death tax.
Gift Tax: Keeps you from the freedom of giving away your money before you die, therefore bypassing death (estate) tax.
IRS Penalties: Tax on unpaid tax. I know, it's redundant.

This is just a small sampling of the plethora of federal taxes we already pay. This list is only a start, and doesn't include state and local taxes, such as sales and real estate taxes, federal cell phone tax, etc., etc.

This "Cap and Trade," carbon tax, is certainly going to have a crippling effect on American businesses. Unfortunately, the unintended consequence of this algorean stupidity, is to raise the cost of living for those that can least afford it. So you see, ladies and gentlemen, President Obama's rhetoric about caring for poor people is, shall we say, "hot air!"
