THREE REASONS NEW FINANCIAL REGS WON'T FIX ANYTHING

Watch the very simple, concise, and accurate video, courtesy from the folks at Reason.tv, that explains why the recently passed financial "reform" bill will not solve any problems. Chris Dodd and Barney Frank, two of the politicians most responsible for promoting the policies that caused the housing bubble/bust, are the authors of the bill. That, and the fact that Fannie/Freddie aren't addressed, should tell you something. Another "crisis" being used as an excuse to expand government control and intrusion into the private sector. The inmates are running the asylum.

  1. Haven't watched the video yet, but might I guess that the most important reason is not mentioned. The reason most things aren't working in DC these days: GOP obstructionism.

  2. Matthew,

Fair question, I think. What is your position on cutting back the military--REALLY cutting it back? Surely, if we are to get control of deficits, we can't continue to give the Pentagon a blank check. You haven't answered this yet. Can I get a thoughtful response? Thanks.

  3. David, Matthew is busy on the campaign trail. Why don't you try sending him a direct email rather than writing a missplaced comment on an entry having nothing to do with the military. You can reach him at matthew@matthewburkeforcongress.com.

I'm curious, have you written the Obama administration with the same question?

  4. David,

I also bet you dollars to donuts that the "blank check" you accuse the military of having is nothing compared to the utopia Socialistic society blank check that our ridiculous number of "entitlement" programs have. In fact, the very word "entitlement" is troubling to me. No one is "entitled" to anything. That you vs me mentality and "soak the rich" is one thing that is wrong with our society. So, would you agree that entitlement programs should no longer receive a blank check?

  5. So you think no one is entitled to anything? We should just throw Grandma out in the street, rather than pay her Social Security?

  6. First of all, Steve F., the government shouldn't be in the retirement business. They have bankrupted Social Security. There is no money there. They are stealing money from grandma's pocket.
