OBAMA WAS AGAINST MIRANDIZING TERRORISTS BEFORE HE WAS FOR IT

President Obama has swung full circle on his stance on whether non-citizen terrorists deserve Miranda rights. As you can see from the video clip of the March 22, 2009 edition of 60 Minutes (text below at appx. 2:25 mark), President Obama told CBS's Steve Kroft that he was against providing Miranda rights to enemy combatants, or terrorists. As we all know, the president and his attorney general, Eric Holder, have turned 180 degrees on this, including offering Miranda rights to the Christmas Eve, "underwear", or "crotch" bomber.
STEVE KROFT:
Some of it being organized by a few people who were released from Guantanamo.
PRESIDENT OBAMA:
Well there is no doubt that-- we have not done a particularly effective job in sorting through who are truly dangerous individuals that we've got to-- make sure are not a threat to us, who are folks that we just swept up. The whole premise of Guantanamo promoted by Vice President Cheney was that somehow the American system of justice was not up to the task of dealing with these terrorists.
I fundamentally disagree with that. Now-- do these folks deserve Miranda rights? Do they deserve to be treated like a shoplifter-- down the block? Of course not.

TAX FOUNDATION URGES OBAMA TO LOWER CORPORATE TAX RATE

U.S. Cannot Encourage Job Creation with Second-Highest Corporate Tax Rate Among Industrialized Nations, Scott Hodge Says
"Jobs, jobs, jobs" seems to be the major theme of President Obama's State of the Union address tonight, but the president is overlooking the biggest obstacle to job creation: America's high business tax, according to Tax Foundation President Scott Hodge. Hodge offered the following statement:
America's business tax system is way out of line with the rest of the industrialized word. How can American businesses create jobs when they are paying the second-highest corporate tax rate in the world? How can the American economy attract jobs from foreign investors when it offers them the second-highest corporate tax rate in the world?
And even though corporate tax rates are the most harmful for economic growth, neither President Obama nor Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell, who will be delivering the Republican response, is expected to call for lowering America's corporate tax rate. Rather than playing investment banker with the tax code, they should be urging Congress to adopt long-term tax reforms that make the United States more competitive. Lower rates for all are fairer and better than incentives for some.
On the theme of helping the middle class, Hodge urged both speakers to avoid playing one class against another and pointed out that some in the middle already pay no federal income tax at all:
More than 46 million people already are off the tax rolls. That's nearly one-third of all federal income tax returns filed. Our studies have shown that so-called 'middle-class' families - in some cases those making more than $100,000 per year - get more back in federal spending benefits than they pay in federal taxes.
The Tax Foundation is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that has monitored fiscal policy at the federal, state and local levels since 1937.

OBAMA MENTIONS HIMSELF 132 TIMES IN "JOBS" SPEECH

A good example of where President Obama's mind is focused can be shown by his recent "jobs", speech given on January 22.
Americans for Prosperity has analyzed, which you can see in the short (1:59) video clip, the speech hoping to find some good ideas to get the economy out of its current malaise. What they found speaks volumes about the arrogance and misguided priorities of many of our nation's politicians, and it starts at the top.
The President mentions the word "taxpayer", those of us who are going to foot the bill for his unprecedented debt bomb, only twice. He mentioned "tax-cuts", a proven way to actually revitalize the economy, twice, and "small business", the source of job growth, eight times. In comparison, he mentioned himself, in the form of "I", or "me", 132 times!
What we can expect tonight is more empty "hope and change", rhetoric, including a three year spending freeze, a deceitful gimmick that locks in his out-of-control deficit spending at unprecedented high levels.
You may have heard that President Obama has proposed a three-year "freeze" on federal spending, and that may sound good on its face. it's really a gimmick to make it look like the administration has heard your voice about the size of government.
Don't be fooled by the political maneuvering. Any spending cuts will not be real, impactful cuts, and any suggestion of tax-cuts will be minuscule. With that being said, I hope I'm dead wrong and that he will finally put politics aside and do what's in the best interests of the United States. He should spend less time worrying about "me", and a lot more time worrying about "we."

ALG CALLS UPON SENATE TO REJECT $1.9 TRILLION DEBT INCREASE; CALLS OBAMA'S SPENDING FREEZE “WINDOW-DRESSING"

Americans for Limited Government President Bill Wilson today called upon the U.S. Senate to reject a $1.9 trillion increase in the national debt ceiling, which would bring the national debt limit to $14.29 trillion.

The call came amid an Obama Administration proposal to “freeze” spending expected to be unveiled at tomorrow’s State of the Union Address, which Wilson called “nothing more than window-dressing to disguise the unpayable debt the nation faces.”

“Barack Obama is completely disconnected from reality. He is ready to show up at the State of the Union Address promoting his ‘spending freeze’ program, which will do absolutely nothing to pay off the $12 trillion national debt,” Wilson said.

“Simultaneously he is prepared to sign legislation that will actually increase the national debt by some $1.9 trillion,” Wilson noted, adding, “The American people are simply not that stupid. This is just one more reason why Obama’s believability is in the toilet.”

According to the Washington Post, “the freeze would shave no more than $15 billion off next year’s budget — barely denting a deficit projected to exceed $1 trillion for the third year in a row.”

Wilson said “The immediate effect of the spending ‘freeze’ will be to freeze into place, and institutionalize, the record-setting $1.4 trillion deficit,” Wilson explained, adding, “which is not the sort of freeze the American people support.”

Wilson asked of Obama prior to his first State of the Union Address, “Why does Obama want to institutionalize perpetual borrowing from the Chinese, Saudis, and Japanese?”

Wilson said the “real solution is to draw down entitlement spending, balance the budget, and pay off the debt.”

According to an Americans for Limited Government analysis of Office of Management and Budget (OMB) data, annual entitlement spending has grown from $386.4 billion in 1992 (27.98 percent of budget outlays totaling $1.381 trillion) to $1.36 trillion in 2009 (38.17 percent of budget outlays totaling $3.653 trillion).

According to OMB data, entitlement spending as a percent of budget outlays will continue to increase, while defense spending will decrease. In 2019, OMB projects that entitlements spending will stand at $2.482 trillion (45.93 percent of outlays totaling $5.403 trillion).

Meanwhile, interest payments on the $12 trillion debt are set to increase drastically. According to the New York Times, “the White House estimates that the government’s tab for servicing the debt will exceed $700 billion a year in 2019, up from $202 billion this year, even if annual budget deficits shrink drastically.”

In a recent column, Wilson wrote that “as interest repayments grow exponentially, the debt will not shrink. In fact, the national debt has grown every single year since 1958. And the government projects that trend will continue unabated for the next decade.”

Wilson recently said that the growth of the debt could be directly correlated and shown to be caused by the growth of entitlements. The national debt has grown by over 295 percent since 1992, and will have grown by over 492 percent by 2020. Entitlement spending has grown by over 351 percent since 1992, and will have grown by over 642 percent by 2020.

“Entitlement spending is the greatest contributor to the growth of the national debt because it is growing at an even faster pace than the budget as a whole. That means it is, without a doubt, the most uncontrolled, profligate, unaffordable and unsustainable portion of the budget,” Wilson explained.

Currently, the national debt stands at over $12 trillion and is projected to top the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2011 at over $14 trillion. By 2020, it will top $20 trillion.

OBAMA WAS AGAINST THE SPENDING FREEZE BEFORE HE WAS FOR IT

President Obama campaigned heavily against the same type of spending freeze that John McCain was proposing during his 2008 presidential campaign. Remember that it's not what he says, it's what he does. This is nothing more than another political flip-flop to match the political move of the day. It's a joke, and a bad one at that.
The spending freeze is much more of a political ploy than anything substantive in reducing the deficit, which it won't, or even reducing government spending, which it won't.
Freezing discretionary spending would have been an excellent policy if the president would have done it upon entering office, but it's ridiculous to do it AFTER he's inflated government spending. All he's doing is locking in guaranteed unsustainable, historic annual deficits, piling one on top of the other.
According to the president's numbers, his plan will save $15 billion in fiscal year 2011. In the middle of fiscal year 2009, he increased the discretionary spending by $40 billion, and for 2010, he's increasing it by $100 billion. He's increased the spending by $140 billion, he's now going to lower it by $15 billion? Only in the political world does that math make sense. But it gets even worse...
The president claims that his plan, to be announced during tomorrow's State of the Union Address, will save $250 billion over ten years. However, his spending that he's already placed in his budgets will equate to an additional $1.5 trillion over what they would have otherwise been. I'm no rocket scientist, but isn't this like taking one step forward and six steps back? Oh, and I forgot that he's only proposing the freeze for three years. Oh, and did I mention that his deficit reduction committee won't be formed until after this November's elections? That makes sense to me when there are votes to be bought.
What is needed is real reductions in government spending, not political maneuvering in an attempt to put lipstick on a pig (or, pork in this case). What is needed is not John McCain's "hatchet", or Barack Obama's "scalpel". What's needed is more along the line of taking a "chainsaw" to the out-of-control spending in Washington, D.C. This would take leadership and courage from a fiscally conservative majority in both houses of Congress, and a fiscally conservative president. We have neither, so the country will continue to drive over the debt cliff at record speed. They are ruining our economy, both in the present and in the future. This will not end well.
Obama's spending freeze is like a drunk, who's drinking six drinks per day, then after increasing his intake to twelve drinks per day, saying, "I promise to "freeze" my drinking to twelve times per day. He's still a drunk, a liar, and a deceiver.

OBAMA MOST POLARIZING FIRST YEAR PRESIDENT IN HISTORY, SAYS GALLUP

President Barack Obama is the most polarizing first year president in history according to the Gallup polling organization. According to Gallup, Democrats give Obama a 88% approval rating (which I find quite amazing considering the bailouts, fraudulent "stimulus", health care fiasco, cap-and-trade, massive deficits, etc.), while only 23% of Republicans approve. The 65 percentage-point gap handsomely beats the prior record, set by Bill Clinton, by 13%:

ANOTHER OBAMA VOTER WITH BUYER'S REMORSE

Another Obama voter is coming clean, admitting their 'buyer's remorse'. A Real Clear Politics article by Jill Dorson, today, candidly reveals and expresses the disappointment, disillusion, and heartfelt regret felt for having voted for, and being suckered into, the Obama "euphoria" and "hope and change" rhetoric. As you'll see, she is not a Sarah Palin fan, suggesting that her supposed lack of intelligence kept her from voting for John McCain in 2008.

I'm always amazed and confused that someone would state that, yet not be turned off by Joe Biden's clear, documented buffoonery. Nevertheless, the article reeks of genuineness and sincerity. Here are the highlights (my bold for emphasis):

I am a registered Independent. I voted for Barack Obama. And for that, I am sorry. I'm not sorry for you. I'm sorry for me. Because I voted for Obama for me, not for you. I voted for hope and change and all the intangibles that Obama was peddling in the wake of the financial crisis, Sarah Palin, Sept. 11 and all the other ills that shook our country in the last decade. I wanted something new. Something different. What I got was, I suppose, exactly what I voted for - a spin doctor. And not a very good one at that.

I was right. He is smart enough to seek counsel. I'm just outraged at the counsel he's seeking these days. Key financial leaders who are tax cheats come immediately to mind, but as the recent terror attack made clear to me, the idea that a president of the most powerful nation in the world could think it was OK to have a Homeland Security chief with such a loose grasp of what terrorism is and how it works is troubling.

I was right there laughing when George W. Bush struggled with the names of countries around the world early in his tenure. And while my knowledge of foreign policy is limited, I thought Bush's was lousy, too. But after Sept. 11, I saw a man with no charisma step up and fight for this country, its citizens and its freedom. Bush became a leader.

Seven years later, I am ashamed to say that I was blinded by charisma. Obama was so convincing that I stopped caring about what he knew and started getting caught up in the euphoria. Imagine having a president who came from a broken home, who had money troubles, who did grass-roots community service? A young father. The first black president. It pains me to admit I got caught up in the hoopla.

But I believed that Obama would try to level the playing field between big business and small, between thieves and honest business people, between greed and moderation. Instead, he bailed out the most wicked and left the rest of us fail.

I watched with horror as Obama followed Bush's lead in bailing out banks, auto makers, insurance companies, all of those companies deemed "too big to fail."

Not to mention President Obama is recklessly spending our country's future into oblivion.

It was clear after just 90 days what a mistake I'd made. My taxes have gone up and my quality of life has gone down. Hope has given way to disgust and I see now that change is simply a euphemism for "big government."

I want a president with experience and savvy, a Commander in Chief who puts our country and its citizens first.

THE DEBT LIMIT MADE SIMPLE

This video takes you to the United Estates--a gated community in sunny Florida--to help you understand the impact of Congress decision to annually raise our nations debt limit, (WHICH THEY'RE ATTEMPTING TO DO FOR THE FOURTH TIME OF THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION) without addressing the out-of-control spending that keeps us buried in debt.

DEMOCRATS PUSH TO INCREASE DEBT LIMIT ANOTHER $1.9 TRILLION

RECORD INCREASE WOULD BE THE FOURTH DURING OBAMA'S ADMINISTRATION
Senate Democrats on Wednesday proposed increasing the limit on the nation's credit card by a whopping $1.9 trillion, to $14.3 trillion. The latest increase comes on top of a $290 billion measure that passed the Senate on Christmas Eve, less than thirty days ago. The Christmas Eve vote was 60-39, with all but one Democrat voting in favor, and all but one Republican voting "No". This is the second time in less than a month, and the FOURTH time during the young Obama administration, that the nation's debt ceiling has been increased.
The Obama administration is blowing money in ways that are unfathomable, but the Bush administration wasn't that much better. Total federal spending increased by a staggering 68 percent during the eight fiscal years of the Bush administration. Bush's "Compassionate" Conservatism was almost as expensive as Obama's "hope and change" is turning out to be.
Last year's deficit hit a phenomenal $1.4 trillion, and the current year's deficit promises to be as high or higher. The prior all-time record was 2008's, $459 billion, which seems mild by comparison.
The national debt exceeds $12.1 trillion (almost $40,000 per U.S. citizen). Since Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and the other Democrats took over Congress less than three years ago, the national debt has blown through the $9, $10, $11, and $12 trillion marks with exceptional ease.
To accommodate all of this new debt, in less than 3 years, the Democrat-controlled Congress has increased the debt limit five times, from $8.97 trillion in January 2007 to $12.39 trillion today—an increase of $3.4 trillion or 38.2%.
I'm sure that budget-cutting rhetoric will flow from President Obama's teleprompter during his State of the Union Address. Any so-called "cuts" he suggests will no doubt be minuscule compared to the mammoth increase in spending he's already signed into law.
Congress has never had the courage to vote against increasing the borrowing limit. The time has come for real change. The credit card is maxed out. It's time for the federal government to tighten it's belt like the American citizens are having to do. When it comes to raising the ceiling on the national debt, it's time to, as Nancy Reagan would put it, "Just say NO!"

CLUB FOR GROWTH PAC URGES MIKE PENCE TO RUN FOR SENATE AGAINST EVAN BAYH

The Club for Growth PAC today urged U.S. Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) to enter Indiana’s 2010 Republican Senate primary election, and defeat incumbent Democrat Senator Evan Bayh in November.
“Mike Pence is the kind of pro-growth hero that the Senate and the nation need right now,” Club President Chris Chocola said. “His leadership in the House over the years has been invaluable, and I certainly don’t want to lose that. But Tuesday’s stunning upset in Massachusetts confirms that Indiana is a winnable race for a principled advocate of economic freedom and limited government.”
“Evan Bayh falsely portrays himself as a moderate, but on the defining economic issues of the last several years, he has voted with Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Barack Obama to grow government, explode the deficit, and pass on debt to our children. Mike Pence can beat Evan Bayh in November, and I join pro-growth conservatives in Indiana and around the country in hoping that he does.”
Since 2004, Bayh has voted:
· FOR the $2 trillion federal health care takeover;
· FOR $700 billion Wall Street bailout;
· FOR the $787 billion stimulus;
· FOR the Cash for Clunkers debacle;
· FOR a job killing cap-and-trade energy tax;
· FOR the auto bailouts;
· FOR card check; and,
· AGAINST repealing the Death Tax.

U.S. ECONOMIC FREEDOM PLUNGES BEHIND CANADA, SAYS STUDY

Unprecedented Decline in Economic Freedom for United States

For over a decade, The Wall Street Journal and The Heritage Foundation, Washington's preeminent think tank, have tracked the march of economic freedom around the world with the influential Index of Economic Freedom:

  • U.S. Drops from "Free" to "Mostly Free": For the first time in the history of the Index for Economic Freedom, the United States is no longer in the top category of economically free countries and is even second in the North American region (behind Canada). This year's score of 78, though high in global standards, is 2.7 points lower than last year and bumps it to a second-tier country of freedom.
  • What Is Economic Freedom? Economic freedom refers to the ability of individuals to control their own labor and property. In an economically free society, individuals are free to work, produce, consume, and invest in any way they please, with that freedom both protected by the state and unconstrained by the state. Governments allow labor, capital, and goods to move freely and refrain from coercion or constraint of liberty beyond the extent necessary to protect and maintain liberty itself.
  • Why the Index of Economic Freedom Is Important: Studies in the Index of Economic Freedomdemonstrate important relationships between economic freedom and job creation, per capita income, economic growth rates, human development, democracy, the elimination of poverty, and environmental protection.
  • What Changed in 2009?
  • U.S. Interventionism: The U.S. government's interventionist responses to the economic and financial crisis that began in 2008 have significantly undermined economic freedom and long-term prospects for economic growth.
  • Great Uncertainty: Uncertainties caused by ongoing regulatory changes and politically influenced stimulus spending have discouraged entrepreneurship and job creation, slowing recovery.
  • Tax Rates, Bailouts, and Stimulus: Tax rates are increasingly uncompetitive and massive. Stimulus spending is creating unprecedented deficits. Bailouts of financial and automotive firms have generated concerns about property rights.
  • Other Factors: There are multiple factors that affect a country's economic freedom--government size and regulation, trade restrictions, inflation and price controls, and labor policies, to name a few. Economic freedom has declined in seven of the 10 categories measured.

Why Is Economic Freedom Important?

  • Jobs, Jobs, Jobs: Economic freedom is crucial to increasing prosperity and creating jobs. Overregulation, taxes, and uncertainty in the market discourage investment--the key factor in creating jobs. The solution to creating more jobs and delivering economic growth sits with entrepreneurs and businesses, not with government decision-makers.
  • Public Sector Is No Match for Private Sector: Put simply, the public sector can't match the vitality of the private sector in promoting growth. Governments, even those that promise change, are primarily agents of the status quo. Real change happens when those outside the mainstream have the freedom to try new things: new production processes, new technologies, and new methods of organizing workers and capital.
  • A Higher Standard of Living: Furthermore, greater economic freedom has a positive correlation to higher standards of living and GDP growth, less poverty, and good governance. Citizens in economically free nations enjoy greater access to ideas and resources, forces that let all of us exchange, interact, and participate in an increasingly interconnected world.
  • Access to the American Dream: The best way to help those in poverty is to give them access to the pursuit of their own dreams and goals and a stake in their own success.

WORLD MISLED OVER HIMALAYAN GLACIER MELTDOWN

SCIENTIST ADMITS CLAIM WAS "SPECULATION" AND NOT BASED ON RESEARCH
A warning that climate change will melt most of the Himalayan glaciers by 2035 is likely to be retracted after a series of scientific blunders by the United Nations body that issued it.
Two years ago the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) issued a benchmark report that was claimed to incorporate the latest and most detailed research into the impact of global warming. A central claim was the world's glaciers were melting so fast that those in the Himalayas could vanish by 2035.
In the past few days the scientists behind the warning have admitted that it was based on a news story in the New Scientist, a popular science journal, published eight years before the IPCC's 2007 report.
It has also emerged that the New Scientist report was itself based on a short telephone interview with Syed Hasnain, a little-known Indian scientist then based at Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi.
Hasnain has since admitted that the claim was "speculation" and was not supported by any formal research. If confirmed it would be one of the most serious failures yet seen in climate research. The IPCC was set up precisely to ensure that world leaders had the best possible scientific advice on climate change.

SCOTT BROWN SURGES IN LATEST POLLS IN MASS. SENATE RACE

Scott Brown

DEMOCRAT MARTHA COAKLEY'S POLL NUMBERS IN FREE-FALL
Below are the latest various poll numbers in the crucial Massachusetts Senate race between Republican Scott Brown and Democrat Martha Coakley:
Perhaps the most shocking is that the extremely far-left, Daily Kos, has the race as a "tie", with Scott Brown gaining an amazing eight points from their previous poll conducted January 12-13. Any one of these polls could be off, but considering ALL pollsters, whether leaning right or left, show Brown up handsomely, with the exception of Daily Kos. When The Daily Kos has the race tied, it's likely to be a landslide in Brown's favor.
Also telling is that according to the Washington Examiner, Coakley's own internal polling shows her down by five points.
Massachusetts, which most consider the most liberal of all states, has three times more registered Democrats than Republicans. In 1972, it was the only state to vote for very liberal presidential candidate, George McGovern. In other words, the state has been dominated by liberal Democrats for decades.
Ted Kennedy's former Senate seat, considered an eternal lock for the Democrats, has gone from one where a win by Scott Brown would be a "shocker", to one that would be shocking if Martha Coakley won.
If Brown does in fact prevail, history will have been made, and almost no Democrat incumbent will be safe in 2010.

OBAMA FINDS NEW BUSH BASHING CHURCH

It took a while, but President Obama has finally found a church with a Bush-bashing pastor. Isn't it funny how "Separation of Church and State" is not evenly applied? It seems to only create moral outrage when conservatives do it for some strange, unknown reason. Speaking of "Bush", can you imagine the hissy-fit there would be if George W. Bush was sitting behind the podium listening to his pastor spewing partisan, political rhetoric that bashed Democrats? Watch this:

MARTHA COAKLEY FLYER: 'SCOTT BROWN WANTS ALL RAPED VICTIMS TURNED AWAY'

One would expect a certain amount of dirt to be slung in such a heated campaign, but this has got to be as sleazy as it gets. Martha Coakley, the Democrat candidate for the Massachusetts' Senate seat made vacant by the passing of Ted Kennedy, sent out a flyer which falsely claims:
"1,736 women were raped in Massachusetts in 2008. Scott Brown wants hospitals to turn them all away.”
This is beyond political hyperbole. Not only is the claim a wicked distortion of Brown's position, but it even exaggerates the lie withing itself with the use of the word "all". What's next, Coakley claiming that Brown actually raped 1,736 women?
Brown may have an excellent case. According to The Daily Caller, Chapter 56, Section 42 of Massachusetts law that states:
“No person shall publish or cause to be published in any letter, circular, advertisement, poster or in any other writing any false statement in relation to any question submitted to the voters, which statement is designed to affect the vote on said question.”
Scott Brown, the Republican candidate, who's been surging in a race not long ago deemed Democratic for eternity, is filing a criminal complaint against the Massachusetts Democratic Party over the flyer.
The Coakley ad seems to be a distortion of a bill Brown sponsored in 2005, while serving in the Massachusetts state legislature, that would have not forced pro-life hospital personnel to inform victims of the availability of the morning after pill.

MICHAEL REAGAN BECOMES HONORARY CHAIRMAN OF THE FAIRTAX NATIONAL VICTORY CAMPAIGN

Michael Reagan, the eldest son of President Ronald Reagan, has been named the Honorary Chairman of the National FairTax Victory Campaign according to officials at FairTax.org.
"This is a natural step considering how strongly Michael has worked to keep alive the legacy and meaning of Ronald Reagan’s work and influence on public policy," said Ken Hoagland of the FairTax National Victory Campaign.
"My father understood that the income tax system works against the nation’s best interests and primarily benefits the political class," said Mr. Reagan. "I am convinced that had it existed in his time, my father would have been a strong proponent of the FairTax."
"This new year of 2010 is the 30th Anniversary of my father’s successful campaign to replace Jimmy Carter as President. Then, as now, the nation was mired in a deep economic recession, our nation was viewed as in decline domestically and internationally, and the American people were looking for real, positive and substantive change in the direction of our country. My father, Ronald Reagan, offered and went on to provide just that, real and positive change for the United States. The FairTax will provide the same kind of free enterprise driven economic growth, simplified tax system, reduced taxes to honest Americans, millions of new jobs and a realistic way of dealing with the massive and rapidly growing deficit."
Reagan noted that there have been tens of thousands of changes to the tax code since his father lead the charge for tax reductions and a simplified system. “The special interest lobbyist-driven changes that have undermined his work to simplify the tax code prove that it is a beast that cannot be tamed-- only replaced,” said Reagan.
"This will remain a non-partisan national movement to win enactment of a far better national tax system," said Reagan. “Like my father, the FairTax campaign has long said that such big changes must be driven by Americans across the political spectrum,” he said. “I join many Democrats as well as Republicans and independents who believe the FairTax will cure a host of national problems and lead to a new era of robust economic growth".
Reagan pointed out that the FairTax will attract trillions of dollars of foreign investment into the U.S. economy and bring back trillions more in American investments currently in offshore accounts and investments, expand the national tax base dramatically to include taxation of those who illegally avoid taxation or benefit from special tax breaks to the politically powerful, and lift the weight of federal taxes and payroll deductions entirely from millions of poor and elderly. "It is the shortest path to full economic recovery and millions of new jobs, ending Congressional corruption of the tax code and providing significant tax relief to the middle class", he said. "The FairTax ends the special benefits enjoyed by the political class which has so badly hurt our economy."
National FairTax Victory Campaign official Ken Hoagland said that Mr. Reagan will lead a revitalized national effort to bring the FairTax into every American household and to Congress.
"We have started with a petition to the House Ways and Means Committee to hold a fair and balanced hearing about pending FairTax legislation that now has 65 co-sponsors in the Senate and House of Representatives."
