VIDEO: A WALL STREET BAILOUT BILL

The ill-conceived "Financial Reform Bill", also known as "The Dodd Bill", after "Countrywide" Chris Dodd, perpetuates the perverse incentive system affectionately know as "too big to fail" (see: Bailouts). The bill has numerous other damaging aspects as well (which I'll write about soon), but this new Heritage Foundation video nails one of the more troubling effects of the legislation, keeping taxpayer's on the hook for any future bank bailouts. Just another example of the government doubling-down on stupidity.

RED SKELTON'S PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Red Skelton's Pledge of Allegiance from his TV show in 1969. Red was one of the funniest comedians of all-time, but this brought tears to my eyes. I'm such a softy when it comes to patriotic matters.
I remember watching Red as a youngster with my Dad, so it brings back some special memories, as well. Red Skelton was a great American and had a unique comedy style that I haven't seen replicated.
Seeing Red's Pledge of Allegiance, reminds me that I need to expose my kids to old Red. It would be a shame if their generation was robbed of the opportunity to see him. They don't make 'em like Red Skelton anymore.

JENNIFER BURKE, WIFE OF CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE MATTHEW BURKE, ON RACE AND THE TEA PARTY MOVEMENT

The Tea Party movement has been wrongly and unfairly characterized as a racist movement. As evidence of this, detractors of the movement like to point out that there are very few people of color involved in Tea Party activities. I believe that the reason there are not many people of color in the movement is due to a misunderstanding of what the movement represents. I also believe that minority groups have been taken in by the distortions and misrepresentations that are reported in the media and disseminated by a Democratic Party that is feeling very threatened.

This movement isn't just about taxes and it has nothing to do with the color of the President's skin. It is about returning this country to the principles of limited government, free markets and individual rights (granted by God, not the government) that our Founding Fathers intended.

I was drawn to the Tea Party Movement as I watched the core integrity of my country being pulled away at a rapid rate. Granted, we had been on a slippery slope for quite some time, but 2009 was a full speed, head on attack on the principles, values, history, and citizens of this country. On election night, I was astounded that so many Americans fell for the picture the media painted of Obama as a centrist. I paid attention to the truths that came out about his background and affiliations. When looking at what he stood for, his voting record as a Senator, things he'd said, and what he'd done in the past, I knew he was not a centrist, but rather a radical leftist. It disappointed me greatly when I heard people speak about how the election of Obama was a realization of the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. My belief is that his election was quite the opposite; contrary to the vision of Dr. King. If America truly judged this man by the content of his character and not the color of his skin, then all controversies surrounding his past would not have been denounced as racist. Nearly every argument against him both during the campaign and since the election have been denounced as racist. There is a movement to silence the voice of the people by defaming them.

The Democratic policies to expand the welfare state and grow government do not help. It simply keeps people stuck in a place in which many can no longer see their way out. When you have generational welfare with even the youngest believing that is their lot in life, a thought process that I worked hard to counter in my years as a teacher, then there is a problem. Couple those policies with their constant use of class warfare and race baiting and you have not a party or President seeking bi-partisan solutions in an attempt to bring the country together, but a party and President seeking to pit Americans against each other using clearly partisan tactics.

I felt that I had to address these attacks on the Tea Party movement. To ignore their attacks would simply help perpetuate their stereotype and allow them to silence and shame us into submission. The fact that there have been many vocally criticizing this attack on the Tea Party movement as itself being racist has caused the left to pivot and search for yet another claim to make. Now, the attack being made is that this movement is one of sedition. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the definition of sedition is incitement of resistance to or insurrection against lawful authority. If it is seditious to expect that our government leaders will follow the Constitution, then we have a problem here in America. Contrary to what many, including our president, would like you to believe, the Constitution is not a "living and breathing" document. That idea is being pushed for the sole purpose of transforming this country into a place that is completely counter to what the Founding Fathers intended. The people that came before us did not go through everything they did for us to slip quietly into the night and become another European society.

MATTHEW BURKE, CANDIDATE FOR U.S. CONGRESS, ADDRESSES BELLEVUE, WA TAX-DAY TEA PARTY

On April 15, 2010, I had the pleasure to speak at the Tax-Day Tea Party in Bellevue, WA. I would estimate the crowd, only a guess, to be around 500. While I'd always had followed politics, since the election of Ronald Reagan, I'd never attended a political event prior to the Seattle Tea Party (known to be the first!), last February.
The powerful Tea Party Movement, with no leaders, no party affiliation, and no real organization, has shown that patriotic Americans will not stand still while the ultra-extreme, far-left takes a wrecking ball to America's greatness, safety, and prosperity.
“All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” -- Edmund Burke (no relation, unfortunately)
We have been idle, myself included, for much too long. We have been awakened, and we will prevail!

VIDEO: "PROUD TO BE A TEABAGGER" RELEASED ON TAX DAY

Just released video, "I'm Proud to be a Teabagger", has just been released to coincide with today's Tax Day Tea Parties across the country, and it's bound to go viral in no time. The far-left radicals (including many in the the mainstream media) have used the pejorative "Teabagger", as a way to ridicule the powerful national movement that's beyond their comprehension. From the beginning of their usage of the label, I've always been intrigued that apparently the far-left finds it more desirable to be a "teabaggee", rather than a "teabagger". Their attempt to smear any patriotic American, who's concerned about the dangers of big government, will turn out to be prophetic.
We will not be quieted by the radicals' sleazy Saul Alinsky tactics. They are ineffective, immature, and like all of their schemes, have results that are opposite of their intentions. Their childish name-calling is an admission that the lobotomized liberals are losing the debate. So, I say, "bring it!". They are energizing our patriots and will only further the crushing humiliation they will experience soon. The far-left radicals will be "teabagged" on the historical election day, November 2, 2010. On this day, the American people will remove the usurpers and plunderers from positions of government and replace them with true constitutional conservatives. We will then restore the federal government to its constitutionally limited role, as intended by our Founding Fathers.
My lovely wife, Jennifer, plays the "dentist" in this short, hilarious video. She also spoke at today's Tax Day Tea Party in Seattle. She brought the house down!
The very first political event that Jennifer and I ever attended was the "Porkulus" (aka: "stimulus") rally on, 2/15/2009, in very liberal downtown Seattle, organized by Seattle's own, "Liberty Belle". Many people don't know this, but Liberty Belle's courage, passion, patriotism, and talent birthed the Tea Party Movement at this very event. Who would have thought that the most powerful political movement of our lifetime would originate from the People's Republic of Seattle?

FOREIGN OWNERSHIP OF U.S. DEBT ON DANGEROUS PATH

The percentage of U.S. debt owned by foreign investors has skyrocketed from approximately 13% in 1978, to around 60% today. The graph above, from top economist, Veronique de Rugy (one of my favorite), using data directly from the U.S. Treasury, shows the explosion in foreign ownership of U.S. debt, in dollar terms, having more than doubled since 2000 alone.
This is a national security risk as more countries have more and more leverage in influencing our foreign policy decisions. Threats of pulling out of our debt markets, specifically by China and Japan (hold appx. 20% of our debt each), if followed through on, could have devastating effects on our economy, including higher overall interest rates that could plunge us into the Great Recession Part II. Even Hillary Clinton admits this is a security risk (ironically, while asking for more money)!
The gargantuan task, to restore the federal government to it's constitutionally limited role, must be boldly, expeditiously, and prudently tackled.
An excellent place to start would be with the over 2,000 federal subsidies that we're funding with borrowed money, mostly from foreigners who may not have our best interests at heart:
Notice that the rate of growth only took a breather from it's trajectory during the Reagan administration, but even he couldn't actually reduce the number of federal handouts. This must change.

GE EXPLOITS REAGAN'S LEGACY SAYS NATIONAL CENTER FOR PUBLIC POLICY RESEARCH

In response to GE's recent announcement of its sponsorship commemorating the Centennial Celebration of President Ronald Reagan's birth, the Free Enterprise Project of the National Center for Public Policy Research is criticizing GE CEO Jeff Immelt for exploiting Reagan's legacy to curry favor with conservatives.
"I'm outraged over Immelt's shameless exploitation of President Reagan's historic presidency to improve GE's reputation among conservatives. Reagan is the champion of conservatives because he fought for liberty and limited government. In contrast, Immelt uses GE's vast lobbying resources to expand the size and role of government in order to create markets for its products and loot Americans of their liberty," said Tom Borelli, Ph.D., Director of the National Center for Public Research's Free Enterprise Project.
Borelli notes that GE is an aggressive supporter of cap-and-trade legislation and that the company played a key role in passing the Waxman-Markey climate change bill last year. GE hopes the capping of carbon emissions would force demand for its renewable energy products such as wind turbines and solar panels. With cap-and-trade currently stalled in the Senate, GE lobbyists are now writing energy legislation for Lindsey Graham (R-SC) that would mandate that an increasing amount of electricity be derived from renewable energy sources.
"In anticipating a Tea Party surge of conservatives to be elected next November, Immelt needs to steer the GE ship hard right. With his revenue increasingly dependent on government projects, policies, and subsidies, Immelt can't be caught on the progressive aisle if the Republicans take charge in Congress. That's why Immelt is running ads recalling Reagan's role with GE during the 1950's," added Borelli.
"It's going to take a lot of advertising to wash away the progressive odor from Immelt's policies. Immelt is a member of President Obama's Economic Recovery Advisory Board, and he has repeatedly been an Obama cheerleader, ranging from defending the president's commencement speech at Notre Dame to echoing Obama's views on CEO greed during a talk at West Point. GE's NBC Universal media empire frequently promotes the Administration's green agenda, and MSNBC's progressive attack dogs - led by Keith Olbermann - consistently assault anything that represents conservative values."
GE is being richly rewarded by Obama's economic stimulus package. GE lobbied the Administration to make sure its utility customers, including Duke Energy, Exelon and FPL Group, were given hundreds of millions of dollars of taxpayer money.
The contrast between Reagan and Immelt's GE is stark in regard to dealing with national adversaries. While Reagan was responsible for the fall of the Soviet Union, Immelt's GE has profited from selling infrastructure equipment to Iran.
"Immelt should realize slick advertising will not cover up his pact with the progressive devils. Because of Immelt, today's GE has far more in common with Obama, Reid, Pelosi and Olbermann than with President Reagan."
The Free Enterprise Project is a program of The National Center For Public Policy Research, a conservative, free-market non-profit think-tank established in 1982. It is supported by the voluntary gifts of over 100,000 individual recent supporters, and receives less than one percent of its revenue from corporate sources.
