IT WON'T BE HEAVEN IN 2011

Check out my latest article on the popular political website, Red County, entitled, "It Won't Be Heaven in 2011", where I write about the economic risks facing our country next year, exacerbated by the ill-conceived policies coming out of Washington, DC.

-Signs No Climate Tax Pledge-

DUVALL—The Washington chapter of the free market grassroots group Americans for Prosperity (AFP-WA) today applauded U.S. House candidate Matthew Burke (1st District) for signing the group’s “No Climate Tax Pledge.” Burke joins more than 550 bipartisan candidates and lawmakers on the federal, state and local levels pledging to “oppose legislation relating to climate change that includes a net increase in government revenue.”

“The one thing elected officials should be able to agree on is that global warming shouldn’t be used as an excuse to hike taxes on citizens and businesses,” said AFP-WA State Director Kirby Wilbur. “We encourage all of Washington’s elected officials and candidates for elected office to sign the pledge.”

Cap-and-trade took its first step toward enactment last year when the U.S. House narrowly passed the Waxman-Markey energy tax bill, which escaped the lower chamber by a scant seven votes despite significant bipartisan opposition. The Senate has struggled to pass companion legislation, with several key Democratic senators openly expressing opposition to attempting to pass the energy tax bill.

President Obama has made no secret of his support for the bill, which would be the largest tax increase in American history. The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office has scored the House plan as an $846 billion increase in federal revenue, a burden that will be borne by taxpayers and consumers for decades to come.

“Using the guise of climate change to transfer dollars from hard-working citizens to bureaucratic big government is unacceptable,” said Wilbur. “Regardless of their stance on global warming, this should be common ground for all of our elected officials at all levels of government.”

The pledge is available online at www.NoClimateTax.com. AFP does not endorse candidates. All elected officials and candidates are encouraged to sign the pledge and go on the record in opposition to using the climate change issue to increase taxes and grow the size of government.

JAY DEVEREAUX PERSONALLY ENDORSES MATTHEW BURKE FOR U.S. CONGRESS (WA-01)

"I want to go on record as endorsing Matthew Burke for the office of United States Congress, Washington State, and 1st District. I have followed his campaign and spoken with him in great detail and can say without reservation he will remember who he works for every day he is in office.
Matthew has worked in the financial services industry for more than 22 years, which to me puts him head and shoulders above most of those currently in congress when it comes to balancing a budget, prioritizing expenditures and putting America back on track to solvency as opposed to the current path of bankruptcy.
Matthew is grounded in a firm belief that Founding Fathers got it right the first time. Like them, he believes in smaller government, lower taxes, personal liberty and freedom. He understands that a limited federal government bound by the limitations of the enumerated powers of the constitution is the best way to ensure these freedoms and the prosperity for future generations of all Americans. He understands that the people own this country, and that a central government that controls every aspect of our lives is nothing short of tyranny.
Matthew, like many of us in America understands that we can’t continue on this course and survive as a nation. Certainly not as the nation those that came before us would recognize. My family has served this nation for more than 14 generations, some of them giving their lives, and I know from their stories, their diaries and writings they did not fight for the type of America the Progressives in both parties have in mind for us.
Most of all I like the fact that Matthew is not a smooth talking bureaucrat or politician. He has never worked for the government. As an everyday working man, I believe Matthew has a firm grasp of the issues we all face including government intrusion in every aspect of our lives right down to the toilet you can buy, light bulb you can use and even an attempt to control the thermostat in your home.
Washington, I feel it is time for us to wash our hands of the professional politicians and lawyers who think they know better than we do how to manage our lives. We need to rid ourselves of those who abuse us like a stolen credit card and discard and dismiss us when we raise a squawk about the abuse.
We have a right not to be harassed by our government and public officials and a fiduciary responsibility to our country to monitor everything our elected officials do and to harass them whenever they overstep the bounds of the constitution and to ensure we restore and maintain our country as the founders intended us to be. Matthew Burke is one man who can and will help us in our quest.
I hope you will all join me as I offer my personal endorsement and support of Matthew Burke for Congress"

TWO AMERICAS: GOVERNMENT INSIDERS AND GOVERNMENT OUTSIDERS

The growth in the total compensation of government bureaucrats, at all levels of government, are out-of-control and are leading the United States down the same disastrous path of Greece. Among with several other troubling statistics, the video (produced by the Center for Freedom and Prosperity) below points out that six out of America's ten richest communities are suburbs of Washington, D.C., because of all of the highly paid federal bureaucrats workers, government contractors, and lobbyists that live around the nation's capital. it's a huge problem when government workers make double what those who pay them, the American taxpayer, make.
